Construction and Attack Drones

 

Blueprints

Building a structure no longer causes it to magically appear, allowing players to build giant bases in seconds.  Now, a blueprint image is placed and you or your drones must take some time to construct it.  The player uses their repair gun (matter materializer) to build the blueprints, and the drones automatically go to build jobs.

Construction Manager

In order to manage and distribute building and repair jobs to the drones, a single ConstructionManager script is used to track the jobs and how many drones are currently assigned to each job.  In co-ordination with the DroneManager, available drones are evenly distributed over current jobs, and will take build jobs before repairing.  Construction drones are vulnerable to melee attacks when building/repairing.  Buying repair upgrades affects the drones repair abilities.

Drone Hangars

To house and launch drone, as well as detect enemies in a radius, DroneHangar was created.  Drone Hangars have a detection radius in which they keep track of enemies and launch Attack Drones to follow and destroy the targets.  Attack drones try to keep their distance from enemies, but currently can't be destroyed until flying or shooting enemies are added to the game.  Buying laser upgrades affects the drones' lasers.  Currently, the Quantum Cube (core of the base) has a drone hangar on it, and the player starts with an assortment of drones, depending on the clone class that they chose.

More to Come on This

Things are in an early stage right now, I still plan to add:

- A Drone Hangar structure that can be placed and interacted with to buy drones
- Behavior for drones to fly back home for repairs when their health gets low, and auto-repair when docked
- Upgrades for drone stats
- Personal drone hangar upgrade or augmentation
