A Bit About Me
My name's Matt, and I love games. I've always been drawn to PC games especially, and found a love for Indie Games early on.
I made a few tiny simple games in GameMaker when I was a teenager, around 18 years ago. I followed a different career since then and recently decided to dive back in to my life-long passion for making video games.
Diving Back in to Game Dev
I brushed up my skills on some coding apps and then took Harvard's free CS50 course, and was suddenly armed with all the tools I'd been missing in my childhood.
What started out as a practice project ended up being pretty darn fun to play, so I've decided to take the project to completion. It is the first full game I've made, and it's made with Unity and C#. It's been an incredible learning journey!
A Bit About The Game
Mutant Mayhem is a 2D top-down shooter with base building and roguelite mechanics. It is inspired by a game I made when I was a teenager, but this one has some serious upgrades! I've put ALOT of hours into learning and making the game, and plan to complete and ship it, to learn the full cycle. I've recently added controller and mobile support!
The setting
Humans recently discovered anomalous energy readings from a system in the far reaches of the Galaxy. Due to the vast distance and high mission risk, the decision was made to deploy a state-of-the-art AI controlled research ship, known as the Mothership. It's mission is to learn more about the anomaly and gain a foothold on each of the planets in the system.
Upon arriving in the system near one of the outer planets, the ship's scanners notice that there are lifeforms on the surface. The lifeforms resemble those which we find, (and used to find) on Earth! More investigation is required to find out how this is possible, and how long these lifeforms have been here.
The Mothership is equipped with a cloning bay, and produces clones to send on expeditions. The ship is able to augment the clones and their equipment with the Research Points gained from mission progress. Clones are rewarded for their mission progress with Credits, which they can spend on base building and upgrades for their gear and structures.
The game
You, as a customized clone, are teleported to the surface of an alien infested planet with a Quantum Matter Exchange Interface, or Q Cube. The Cube allows you to teleport Mutant tissue samples back up to the ship in exchange for Credits.
The enemies are drawn toward the Cube and grow stronger, faster, and more numerous every night. You must unlock and upgrade gear while building a defensive base to survive.
When you die or give up you will receive Research Points (RP) for your progress. The RP can then be allocated or re-allocated on Augmentations at the start of each game, so the RP is never spent. This allows for trying new and more powerful builds each playthrough.
Looking for Feedback
I'm always looking for feedback, so please feel free to share your thoughts here or come say hi on Discord.

Overall pretty good game so far I will list some pros and cons
Pros = 1. The testflight beta version has quite alot of features and extra features everyrhing from 6 different selections for graphic qaulity to resizing the screen and controls that aspect is very very well executed
2. Along with all of the extra features And customization options comes alot of core gameplay features aswell because this is a survival based top down shooter your dealing with waves of enemys and building your own base structure/ environment and there are a lot of options KUDOS dev for implementing so many selections 💯
3. The roguelike aspect is really fun and greatly boosts the level of customization you an achieve
CONS = 1. The Screen Size Is Kinda Wonky For Edge To Edge Devices Like Mine I Have An IPhone 12 S and there is no options to adjust screen size but every other option around it lol
2. Resizing And Picking Different On Screen Touch Controls Layout And Position Aswell As Game Screen Zoom And Adjustments
3. The Aiming Mechanic Should Have A Different Control Scheme Other Than The 2 Finger Swipe Gesture Because It Makes For Unstable Aiming Adjustments No Matter How Fast Or On Point Your Aiming Skills Might Be
4. 1 Thing This Game Is Missing That Would Sooo Beef Up The Graphic And Performance Overall Would Be Implementing OpenGL Metal Shaders And Rendering Alot Of The New Games And Emulators Have Been Using New And Improved OpenGL Metal Rendering And Shaders Over The Standard OpenGL and Vulkan Shaders And Rendering
5. A More robust storyline is needed
EXTRAS = ON SCREEN SHADERS THAT CAN BE TOGGLED AND SELECTED IN THE SETTINGS MENU
AUTOPLAY IMPLEMENTING A.I. AND MACHINE LARNING CODING TO HAVE AN AUTOPLAY FEATURE THAT WORKS GOOD
OVERALL RATING = 84/100 OVERALL PRETTY SOLID FOR WHAT I HAVE TESTED SO FAR I WILL PROVIDE A MORE THOROUGH UPDATE OF THIS FERDBACK/REVIEW UPON FURTHER TESTING OF SAID GAME GOOD JOB SO FAR DEV THIS IS ACTUALLY A GAME THAT SEEMS LIKE IT WILL BE FUN TO FOLLOW THE FUTURE UPDATES OF SOLID AF
Getting the testflight beta rn on my iPhone 12 S I'll provide the feedback you were wanting right here in the comments section
I'd love to hear any feedback that anyone has! Good or bad!
Thanks,
Matt (The Developer)
